Southall once boasted 5 cinemas (in common with many towns in the U.K), of which The Palace is one - a striking example of 30's Orientalist styling, it is a well-known landmark which continued to be used as a cinema, with various changes of name, until the late 80's when it was re-purposed as a covered market - since then it has undergone extensive interior restoration in line with the original design.
